Andreas Eastman Violins
|
The Andreas Eastman
master workshop is
focused on a small
number of very
important things:
Quality
tonewoods
Outstanding
hand-craftsmanship
Artistic
traditional
varnishes
Its a short list,
but it includes all
of the factors
important in
ensuring that these
violins are the best
sounding and most
beautiful,
responsive, reliable
step-up instruments
available. |
Peter Kauffman Violins
The Peter
Kauffman is a great example
of how far Chinese
violin-making has come in
the past decade. This violin
was made in the workshop of
West Coast Strings, one of
several workshops to push
Chinese instruments to a
higher level. With a
transparent golden-brown
varnish and penetrating
sound, this violin
demonstrates that Chinese
instrument making has truly
come of age.

Sandro Luciano Violins
Many prefer the warm tone of
the Sandro Luciano violins.
The curly maple back and
sides are stunning. This
violin from West Coast
String Instruments offers an
alternative to the standard
highly flamed maple.
Rudoulf Doetsch Violins
The instruments of Rudoulf
Doetsch begin in Germany
where aged spruce and maple
are shaped in the patterns
established by Antonio
Stradivarius and Guarneri
del Gesu. These partially
finished white instruments
are sent to Eastman Strings
where they are carefully
graduated, bass-barred and
hand finished with an
antique varnish that
suggests another time.
Klier Violins
For those players who
require a step-up from the
Doetsch, we offer
Wilhelm Klier Instruments.
These are made in a similar
fashion to the Doetsch
instruments, however the
wood used for the Kliers has
been aged a bit longer. The
result is an instrument with
all the qualities typically
found in the Doetsches but
with an even wider range of
tonal colors available to
the player.
Wyss Violins
Frederich Wyss violins are
the pinnacle of European
luthiery tradition. The
finest available European
tonewoods are meticulously
crafted by makers working in
the tradition established in
Germany centuries ago.
Tonally adjusted and
hand-varnished by master
luthiers in the United
States, these instruments
are nothing less than true
professional models, worthy
of the conservatory, studio,
or the concert stage. Their
rich, mature sonority
penetrates to the furthest
reaches of the concert hall.

This photo
was taken at Stringfest of
the Frederich Wyss
violin purchased by Valerie
Arsenault of Tallahassee, FL.
The
photo doesn't begin to do it justice in terms of its beauty.
Hearing Valerie play it
is a treat I'll never
forget.
